We have developed our own smart light. It is an array of RGBW LEDs (that can work in various form factors) and can reproduce any colour or brightness. It also supports a number of effects directly within the light. It is an example of both smart lighting and dynamic lighting.
Persistent effects are those that continue until another request is received. Examples include:
This effects makes the light appear to loook like a candle and to flicker randomly.
This effects cycles the light through the colours of the rainbow.
Transient effects are those that happen for a short period of time only. These are typically used to notify people of events. Examples include:
This transient effect is used to visually indicate that the front door bell has been pressed. It will flash red three times and then automatically revert back to its previous state.
This transient effect is used to visually indicate that the (landline) phone is ringing.
This transient effect flashes the light a chosen colour for a number of times to signify that time has passed. We use this in our smart shower to provide a visual indication of how long you have been in the shower.
