The Smartisant 8-Channel IO Board IO1 is one of our smart home building blocks and makes it really simple to power and connect a wide range of 5V dc sensors and devices to a smart home.
The PCB exposes 8 channels, each via a 4-way Molex connector and connects to our other boards via a 10-way shrouded header connector. When connected to an Arduino, each channel can be configured as an input or output. The PCB supports optional pull-up and pull-down resistors on each channel.
The PCB supports 8 channels but has the option to use channel 8 for an on-board 5V active or passive (PWM) sounder instead of connecting a sensor or device. This is to allow audible notifications or warnings. An optional in-line resistor can also be added.
The PCB does not have to be fully populated and can be built up to suit each specific application or installation, making it more cost effective.
