We often get asked why we have a 'disco light' connected in our smart home. The disco light is a simple lamp with 9 colour changing LED bulbs.
We use it around our home as a generic test appliance, to test out the accuracy of our occupancy detection and our simple approach to configuring smart home automation. The disco light is currently configured to come on whenever the Conservatory is occupied (24 hours a day) and is a clear, visible indication of occupancy. It allows us to test out the numerous triggers for occupancy such as beam break sensors, door contact sensors and PIR sensors.
