This is some of our smart home research on connecting devices and appliances to our smart home. You can see some real-world examples via our real, lived in @smartest_home.
Whilst there are many 'smart' and connected appliances available that can provide usage information, we have also researched methods for usage tracking of 'dumb' appliances.
As well as more complex appliances, we also use our smart home building blocks to connect and control simple devices. Typically these are binary (on/off) devices such as mains powered, specialist lighting, low voltage lighting, IR security lighting, irrigation pumps, curtains, blinds, etc.
There are many connected (smart) appliances appearing on the market and we track and monitor interesting products, from kettles to vacuum cleaners.
