Philips is one of the leaders in smart home lighting having established itself as a leading player very early on with its Philips Hue range. The technology is not without it's problems though. It suffers from latency in our experience and doesn't scale well, with each hub having a limit on the number of bulbs supported.
The Philips Welcome Flood Light is wall-mounted and shines in one shade of bright white light. The Discover Flood Light can also be wall-mounted and is capable of displaying white and colour ambience light.
The Philips Hue Fuzo family of lights include a pedestal, three wall lights and a white light.
Philips also sell a PIR sensor but, this is a classic example of a product that is limited by being tied to one eco-system. It is much better to have generic motions sensors that can be used to achieve many things in our view.
We use Philips Hue lighting in our own @smartest_home but with just a single hub and less than 5 Hue bulbs. The main reason for this is that smart bulbs have limited applications and are not the best technology to use in many instances.
That said, we like Philips Hue because it is high quality and provides good quality light output. We have experience of using it in situations with many tens of bulbs and have found the control to not always be reliable. For this reason we have developed our own control layer around the developer API, to ensure much better reliability.
